The Role
I really enjoyed working at Disney as the company covers so many different industries offering interns the opportunity to learn so much in the year. The intern community was also really good with lots of interns that are in the same position as you so make the year a whole lot easier.
I felt that after the first few months I was valued and recognised as a member of the team who knew what I was talking about. However it is understandable as it takes a while to get familiar with the new role.
The managers in my department were very busy so a lot of the support and training was given by other members of the team. However this training was adequate and efficient.
My role works on a cyclical basis so it depends on what time in the month we were working on. However if there is not much work to do there's always someone that needs some help with something that fills your time.
I was given sole responsibility of my channel so it throws you in at the deep end a bit as everyone in the team including producers, managers, programmers are contacting you expecting you to know what is going on with your channel and be on top of the work. I feel this works out well as you are forced to get familiar with your channel during the handover period so you know as much as you can before you are on your own being the sole turning point for the channel.
I have developed communication skills from now having the confidence to talk to senior managers and other members of other departments to assist me in my job. I feel I now have strong organisation & time management skills from managing a high work load & working to deadlines.
The Company
The atmosphere is excellent with a great group of people to work with. I have not felt uncomfortable or unsettled with anyone in the team as everyone is very approachable.
Disney offer a strong internship due to having interns in the company for many years so they understand the needs of interns and are ready for the start of new interns.
It was my choice if I wanted to invest my time in different departments so it is more dependent on you having the contacts you need and using them as you would like while working for Disney.

I have seen that a lot of past interns return back to the company so feel that if I was to apply for an open position I would have a better chance of employment due to the experience I have had in the year.
The Culture
The social scene in London is great and there are lots of interns to make friends with. I was lucky enough to be in a huge team with about 15 interns on my floor who we all got on really well with who were up for going out and making the most of the social scene while here.
I lived at home so my cost of living is not applicable however other interns had said that the cost of living is very high which can be a struggle with the pay. However this should be expected in London. This is the same for socialising - if you're from a northern town it might be a bit of a shock to the system.
There are lots of pubs and bars around Hammersmith to choose from.
There were opportunities to go to work events and join clubs such as baking or sport groups.
