The Role
I really enjoyed working at MMT Digital. It's a company with a great working culture and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. There are a lot of ex DMU students at the company which helped me settle in quickly.
I was involved in many meetings and conversations about technical approaches to our work in which my thoughts were always considered. I always felt like a full member of the team!
There was always support from my colleagues if I needed it although I was always given work to solve on my own.
There was always work to be done and there was any downtime from my own project work I helped out colleagues with their work as well.
I worked alongside others on projects for high profile clients of different sectors. Some projects I worked on independently so I always had to make sure my work was completed to a good standard and quality. When working on multiple projects I had to manage my time efficiently between them to make sure they were all completed on time.
The most important skills developed during my placement were communication skills and organization skills. I was not always told what to do and how to do it on my placement. I had to be pro-active and organize myself. This is very important in your final year of university when the work piles up and you have multiple deadlines around the same time.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office varied day to day. Some days it could be quite quiet whilst people focused on there work. Although quiet people would still talk and be available to help if needed. The office has a shared playlist on Spotify where people could add their favourite tracks which would be played out in the afternoon on certain days. On Fridays there is a random music theme selected and we choose tracks to that theme instead.
MMT Digital take 2-3 placement students every year so they are well aware of how they work. There were a couple of reviews by a DMU tutor where I showed my work and talked about what I had been doing.
There was on-going help and assistance as and when I needed it as well as specific training on certain areas of my work organized internally. Every fortnight, chosen employees run a lunch presentation on a different topic. Sometimes about certain technologies and sometimes about approaches to projects etc... These were great for learning about new technology or about other work the company is doing, and MMT Digital also supply a free lunch to anyone that attends!

Working from home
I would love to work for MMT Digital after completing my degree.
The Culture
There was a social committee at MMT Digital which organized many events outside of work such as Go-Karting and Paintballing. Also there is a summer barbecue every year!
