About You
I really enjoyed it. My vac scheme intake were good fun and we got on very well, and the program itself was excellent, featuring a really good mixture of insight into the firm, work experience and activities.
The personal aspect of the firm was one of the highlights - it always felt like I was being valued and everyone took time out of their day to help me or talk to me about my career/application, as well as just to have a chat.
A lot of support from my buddy, the graduate recruitment team and other trainees. At times perhaps could have done with a little more supervision in terms of work, as occasionally I felt at a loose end, but by and large very good.
I feel like I consolidated skills I had rather than gain new ones, but skills such as teamwork and attention to detail certainly improved a lot. Also some of the activities required a bit of creative thinking and problem solving which will be useful.
The Company
Very well structured - very clear schedule, lots of presentations and talks but also time to get on with work with our teams. Very busy and tiring but fitted together nicely.
Excellent atmosphere - everyone got on very well, and the team at A&O were very friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home.
A lot of investment in the grad recruitment element. Could have used some more frequent guidance with work, but lots of different members of the team made a big effort to help me with work and questions.
Days were quite short with a lot of activities which probably isn't representative, but everyone was very honest about what it's like, and I experienced several tasks that were representative.
Lots - I came away very impressed with the culture and wanting to be a part of it.
Helpful in that I know I want to start in law, but having spoken to a lot of people I am also not sure on long term goals.
Everything Else
Yes - several structured networking events with employees at all levels from trainee to partner. Also lots of opportunities in general day to day situations for meeting lots of people.
Very good - speed networking events were really useful and insightful. We were also given plenty of opportunities to meet partners. Social events were also good fun - I left feeling like I'd spend a lot of time with everyone which is nice.
Not entirely sure about this - some mention of football once a week but wasn't really covered in detail.
