The Role
I particularly enjoyed my first 3 weeks, carrying out audit procedures.
Everyone I worked with at EY was so friendly and asking for help when struggling with work was always easy.
If you show that you are keen to learn and that you want to take initiative, and you ask insightful questions, the managers will try to help you get the most out of the internship.
It depended on the job you were on, whether there was a reporting deadline coming up, and how many people were on your team. One job was very relaxed and I completed my work within a couple of hours each day, whereas another job was really busy as sections had to be completed by the end of the week.
A great deal more than you would expect on a 6 week internship. E&Y treat you like a first year graduate!
Will hopefully be going into audit when I graduate so skills I've learnt during the internship should help, and might help with some accounting modules at university.
The Company
I only spent 2 days in the office over the 6 week period, as I was always at client sites. Everyone is working hard, but there are times when a good chat will start.
So well organised, we got given booklets telling us what we'd be doing during the inducion, got lots of info at the induction itself, and even had the train tickets for the final event arranged for us! There's always someone to contact if you're not sure about something too.
I felt that everyone spent a lot of time explaining things to me, and answering my questions.
Fingers crossed for a job offer off them!
The Culture
I have made some great friends with other interns, even though we hardly saw each other during the placement.
cheap - well cheaper than nottingham
Plenty of places to choose if you're going out
Yes! Especially amongst the interns, but even other staff invited us out to after work drinks. Also, there is an Audit Sports Day this week, which should be great fun.
