The Role
Multiple opportunities throughout the year to get involved in different areas of IBM e.g. had the opportunity to work at the Wimbledon Championships as IBM Kiosk Manager.
Colleagues treated me like any other member of IBM staff and felt very welcome and a trusted and valued member of the team all year.
If there were any problems, there was always someone to ask and who would help. However, I was given enough space and trust in me to try and work problems out on my own.
If I had finished daily tasks there was always someone on the team that could use my help.
My manager, the Operations Manager was off sick for 8 weeks. I had to take over this role with immediate effect. Relied on the support of the team to sucessfully fulfill this role.
Working for IBM for a year has enabled me to gain invaluable skills that will help me in my next business role.
The Company
Worked on a global account so the team were based all over the world which meant that some days the office could be quiet. When several of the team were in the office the atmosphere was good.
Fantastic set up throughout the year. Very well structured. Foundation provide Personal Development Managers who you have regular reviews with and gain feedback on your work to date.
If you required a particular form of training or course IBM would arrange this.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Waiting for an assessment centre date for a graduate role at IBM.
The Culture
Around 50 other placement students based at my location so multiple social events throughout the year. One of the highlights of the placement.
London very expensive place to live and socilalise, but it is worth it.
Central London, great atmosphere and always something going on.
Several opportunities from voluntary work to corporate games.
