The Role
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I was assinged to a very interesting project and worked alongside a very approachable and inclusive project team, who set me a number of challenging pieces of work.
I felt highly valued throughout the internship by my collegues. I was assinged several pieces of work - many of which were varied and very interesting - directly attached to the project, rather than simply administrative taks and data handling.
Overall, my collegues were highly supportive. I was strongly encouraged to ask for help if I faced any difficulties or didn't fully understand the instructions and, whenever I asked for help, it was never a problem.
My daily schedule was highly varied, meaning that I was very busy on some days and less busy on other days. I was, however, generally busy, especially since the project was working on a tight budget and tight deadlines. Despite this, I rarely worked beyond expected working hours, normally finishing by approximately 6pm.
I was given responsibility insofar as I had tasks to complete independently that was important for the progression of the project. I was never placed under a significant amount of pressure, however, since my work was always checked by a fellow collegue before any work was presented to the client.
Throughout my internship I developed a number of 'soft' skills - including social skills and time management - as well as more technical skills - such as using particular programmes and databases. My soft skills will be particularly useful when going back to my final year in university, especially managing my time most efficiently and collaborating effectively with other people in a team.
The Company
Generally, the atmosphere in the office was positive. Whilst many of my colleagues were under a significant amount of pressure to meet deadlines, most people remained positive and helped to make it an enjoyable place to work.
The internship was extremely well organised from the very beginning. Prior to beginning the internship, we were provided with a comprehensive pack of information and during the induction (3 days away in a DeVere Hotel) everything was meticulously planned. This included both informative workshops, team building activities and social events. Throughout the rest of the internship, there was fewer planned activities but every event was planned very well.
The bulk of the training was in the three day induction, which focused on personal development of social skills. This training was a significant investment but the investment was minimal for the rest of the internship.

Future employment prospects are very appealing. I think it would be an excellent place to work, especially since there is a very good work-life balance.
The Culture
Yes, the fellow interns were very friendly and incredibly easy to get along with. We organised regular social event amongst ourselves each week. I also went out for a meal or drinks with my project team regularly.
Personally, I commuted from home so my living costs were fairly minimal. I paid for lunch most days and my travel to and from work was fairly expensive but that was about all I paid for. However, since I was based in London, many fellow interns found that living costs were extremely high.
I was based in central London (near London Bridge station) so there was a very lively nightlife. This consisted primarily of a number of bars, which were very well visited after work on a Friday.
All of the interns were set a Dragon's Den project - which involved developing idea within a particular brief - which was a good opportunity to involve yourself in something outside of project work. There weren't, however, opportunities to get involved with other sports or societies during my internship.
