The Role
Excellent - was given an interesting project and every day has been interesting; I've learnt a lot.
My colleagues in Process Safety have been really supportive of my project and enthusiastic when I've asked for their opinion on my ideas etc.
I have been given lots of support from my supervisor and my mentor, and from pretty much everyone I've approached for help.
There was always plenty of work for me to be getting on with, I never found myself with nothing to do. At the same time, I haven't been over-worked, the hours are flexible and it's about making sure I meet deadlines agreed with my supervisor; how I do that is up to me.
I am working on my own individual project, the results from which will hopefully be used by the company after I leave.
Given plenty of opportunity to learn - not only around the area of my project but I've also undertaken training courses in presentation skills, touch-typing and engineering software. A lot of what I have learnt here I hope to use in my career.
The Company
Lots of investment in training and development, I was pleasantly surprised.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I would definitely like to work for BP and will find out whether I've been successful in this or not soon.
The Culture
There were 50 or so interns here this summer which made for a great atmosphere and plenty of fun outside of work too.
Expensive in London, but worth it.
Not much nightlife in Sunbury, but I commuted out from the centre of London.
Plenty of sports options and nights out.
