The Role
I had a great time because of a wonderful group of colleagues and other interns on the program.
I received constant positive feedback and encouragement from my colleagues. I was able to shadow other teams within the organisation who readily allowed me to attend meetings.
My line manager was great. She was always available to answer my questions or clarify any instructions or procedures for me. She was very supportive and encouraged other colleagues to assign me work or let me shadow them.
The days varied as did the workload. At the start of the internship I was still learning about how the organisation worked but after a few weeks most of my days were filled.
I had some administrative responsibility but as the organisation was going through an important restructure it wasn't as much as I would have liked/would have been feasible at the time.
I have learnt to be more meticulous in my work and to pay a great deal more attention to my work.
The Company
It was pleasant and friendly. All my colleagues got on well.
It was quite well organised. I was assigned a mentor to help me with any concerns I had and also to help me discover and learnt all that I wanted to with the help of some SMART targets. I was able to choose other departments to visit although this wasn't always possible. It would have been helpful to set some clearer targets at the start of the internship and to have monitored my progress more consistently.
I was given the chance of doing some online workshops and minor qualifications e.g. safeguarding of children, safety at work. I also made 2 trips to Manchester for work during my involvement in several interview campaigns.
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
In some areas there seems to be a lot of mobility.
The Culture
It was good - we went for drinks as a department twice during my 7 week placement and I regularly saw the other interns for lunch.
It was rather expensive as it was Central London but I live just outside London so living expenses were negligible.
It was busy and expensive. The office was near Leicester Square and Covent Garden.
Not really.
