The Role
I had a fantastic team which made my job really fun.
Everyday my colleagues would thank me on how much work I have done and my progress.
I had my manager and a PDM - proffessional development manager to help with my job and individual development
To start of with, there wasnt much for me to do but once 'learning the ropes' a bit more, I had a lot to be getting on with
I was given a lot of responsibility in many ways throughout my placement
I have learnt many new skills which will help me in the future e.g. giving presentations
The Company
There was always something going on in y office from tombolas and cake stalls to nights out with the department
IBMs 'Foundation' are a well organised group who deal with the setting up and overall management of placements / graduates
Lots of services were available to me to assist in my training and development including online e-learning courses and meetings with my mentor to dicuss what how I can make the most out of my year
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would like to go back to IBM as a graduate
The Culture
At Portsmouth there were around 80 fellow placement students so the social scene was fantastic
Not as cheap as Uni (obviiously) but much cheaper than other places eg London
2 main clubs which were always fun and busy
Giveback is a scheme IBM runs to let employees volunteer to give back to the company / society. I took part in 4 of these and gave presentations and help out on many IBM events
