    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my 6 weeks at PwC, I gained valued insight into what it was like to work in audit and gained a lot from my internship.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was treated as a PwC employee rather than just a 6 weeks intern, I felt valued throughout my 6 weeks and had an enjoyable experience.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The guidance and support given was available but you had to be proactive in accessing it - such as sending emails and verbal-ling talking to people. Everyone was happy to help and answer any questions I had.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Assurance quiet season was during my internship so at times there was little to do, I was never over worked but at times I had to entertain myself.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given as much responsilbility as could be given with my lack of experience, I gain full client exposure and was actually allowed to work on the audit work which was really useful experience.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed skills in general accounting but coming from a Biology degree this wasn't difficult, the way of learning was mainly on the job with some intense training in the first few days. This training was done at an external training centre with all the other interns from the rest of the UK. It was really nice to meet lots of the other interns and the opportunity to start builidng networks.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I wasn't in the office very much as I spent a lot of time at client sites. When I was in the office the atmosphere was relaxed although not many people would actively look to talk to you. If you started up conversations they were really friendly and any I worked directly with was extremely helpful and nice. A lot of what you get out of the internship is through being proactive.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the internship was a little incomplete with many last minute changes occurring, I think this was more due to the clients rather the PwC's organisation but I was sometimes left not knowing where I was meant to go on Monday morning.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were many opportunities to learn and improve your current skill sets with online training also.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If I gain an offer from the firm I am planning on joining as a full time graduate. The firm seems very supporting of all its employees and there are endless opportunities within the firm which are very inviting.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were few social events organised throughout my internship, I attended one set of leaving drinks on my first friday but apart from that there were no other social opportunities.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I would say about average.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Newcastle nightlife is meant to be very good but there were no opportunities to try it out.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were no opportunities offered to me about getting involved in activities outside of work, this may have been due to the fact it was summer and a lot of people are on holiday at this time.
