The Role
I really enjoyed the responsibilities and opportunities Intel gave me during my 13 month placement. Intel employed approximately 50 other interns the year I was recruited, which was a big bonus.
The team events each quarter that are funded by Intel, helped me build relationships with other colleagues. Every quarter had treasure hunts and local community events
I had weekly 1:1s with my manager to raise any issues or problems. Also had team meetings weekly to go through work stages. Also were assigned a 'buddy' to go to regarding anything.
I always had things to do at the start of my placement since everything was new to me & obviously it took me that little bit longer than everyone else to complete my tasks. Three months into the placement I was able to speed up & had some spare time on my hands. So I made my manager aware of this & he was able to work with my team coach to get me more tasks so that I was able to get the most out of my time here
I was given extra of responsibilities once I had proved I could do my core role well and manage my time effectively.
Presentation and preparation/analysis of data skills in particular will help in the future. I have presented in front of top managers at the UK site.
The Company
Very friendly environment, after a couple of months I knew lots of people who would say hello to me in the corridor or canteen at lunch. It was a very busy also which gave me a true insight into the world of work and how to deal with work pressure
It is a well established work placement and has been running for years. The handover period from the previous intern to me was very well organised and I didnt feel as intimidated as I thought I would taking on work responsibilities.
I had a great deal of training when I first started, some was applical to Intel Corporation and some was more general like coping with confrontation in the work place, presentation skills, time management

Promising, since they have a buddy system and if they find you suitable and receive recommendations you can join for the long haul
The Culture
The rent and cost of living was fine. Swindon itself doesnt have a great social scene but because the students socialise in a big group we organised lots of trips to nearby cities.
A lot of the people that went out seemed to be underage. The 'older' part of town is more sophisticated but was too expensive
Not much in the vicinity but a little away there are decent options
Many occasions were celebrated every few days like group birthdays and get together. But depends on the your immediate team
