About You
I really enjoyed the Open Day, as it was well organised and insightful. Activities included a presentation from a partner, a talk from the Graduate Recruitment Partners, lunch with the trainees, Application tips and a really nice Business Game where we worked in teams and held a presentation. I enjoyed the entire day and I found the activities varied and very helpful!
Everyone was very nice and approachable. There were many opportunities to ask questions about the firm. I think Taylor Wessing makes a real investment in finding the right people for the firm, and you can really see that.
During the Business Game, there was a trainee to help us with preparation. The trainee my team was assigned only made a few comments, but I heard from other teams that some trainees were very involved!
I think I really learnt something about working in a team, which is that you have to strike the balance between being enthusiastic and dynamic, and encouraging other people to participate.
The Company
It was great, everything ran to schedule and we always knew what was next coming up on the list. We had an agenda for the day, which made it easy to follow the activities.
Very pleasant atmosphere. The fact that one VS was up for grabs made for a bit of a competitive environment between attendees, but I thought that it was a healthy competition, and I found everyone's input very valuable.
Obviously, there was the time that Partners, HR and trainees spent with us. Other than that, there wasn't much "investment" obvious but I wouldn't expect that from an Open Day anyway.
I got to meet some people that work at the firm, I found out about the deals and I familiarized myself with the work environment - considering that the event lasted one day only, I thought the insight was really valuable.
People are friendly, very open and always ready to give you the information you need. It seemed like the environment was pretty non-hierarchical, which I enjoyed.
I had already decided, but it was helpful to see that the work in this area is really interesting and enjoyable.
Everything Else
I was not reimbursed, but that's because I did not need it. The firm reimburses up to 60 GBP travel expenses.
Yes: lunch with trainees, Q&A with Grad Rec and a Partner.
There was some opportunity to network at lunch and after the Business Game.
Yes, loads of Pro-Bono and trainees are encouraged to get involved.
Definitely.
