About You
The day was very worthwhile. We learned about different practise areas at Taylor Wessing, techniques for writing good application forms, several Q&A sessions about IP law, training contracts and the profession in general.
We heard talks from HR, three partners and several trainees and associates. This was far more than I have experienced at other firms, and this certainly made me feel valued
The day was logically structured and well organised
We conducted a 'Business Game' which developed skills of working collaboratively to achieve a goal - in this case a consensus on a business proposal. We then developed skills in presenting as a team, which required different skills to just presenting on one's own.
The Company
Well structured
Very friendly and welcoming
Three partners gave up their time to speak to us, answer any questions we had and to hear and judge the business game. The whole day was useful and informative
We spoke to trainees about their roles over lunch, but an understanding of a full time role would be difficult to achieve in just one short day
I met and spoke to many employees of the firm and gained a general impression of a friendly and supportive culture, which was also energetic and innovative
The content was as valuable as it could have been, but the insight was only for one day so it would be difficult to decide a career path after the experience of just one day. However, having already decided that I would like to pursue a career in law, the day certainly confirmed that I have made the right choice for me, and I came away feeling that Taylor Wessing would be a great place to practise law
Everything Else
I was reimbursed adequately for my travel expenses
There were two opportunities to meet and network with trainees - at lunch time and again at the end of the day
These were good - networking events are always best done in large rooms or spaces to give people space to move around and talk to many people in the room, and there was plenty of space for this at both networking sessions
I think we did, but perhaps one idea for the future would be to show a slideshow or even a video made by trainees of some of their pro bono work or outside work activities
Yes I would
