    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The vacation scheme was extremely useful, it provided many opportunities to find out about what a career in law truly entails and ultimately confirmed my interest through presentations, networking and hands on work.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued, the firm only took on 15 students and each of us had a partner mentor and trainee buddy both of whom took the time to get to know us. They really made an effort to make us feel welcome through a number of social events too.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received a lot of guidance. My trainee buddy was particularly useful in providing various roles in order to give me as well rounded a view of a legal career as possible. Obviously my partner mentor was busy at many times, however he was always available to answer any questions and just speak to me about my interests.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience made me a lot more confident in terms of providing me with an ability to show off my skills. Coming from a science background I wouldn't say the work directly translates but it did provide me with the confidence in the fact that I was successful in obtaining a competitive scheme.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was brilliantly structured. From day 1 we had a timetable that was very much stuck to and allowed for opportunities to experience as much of the work as possible within 8 days. They also understood that the hands on work would be the best way to get experience and factored that in by giving us a lot of time to do that.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The firm was extremely friendly, it is fairly large but also small enough that everyone knows each other and gets along. It has a real family feel to it.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I can say for sure that a lot of effort was put into the scheme. The investment given by each department was noticeable and really made me feel valued. They provided opportunities for training in a number of areas, including resources, IT and practice area specific training.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I think it gave a very representative view of the firm in that it is a really friendly place where people value each other, all the while understanding that hard work is the basis of it all, but hard work really is rewarded.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I tried to get as much exposure as possible to people at the firm and this gave me a real sense of the culture. I would email and meet employees for coffees in order to get different opinions but they all seemed to have the same consensus.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
