  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Amazing experience - excellent exposure to realities of working life, great social events, collegiate atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

  • Open-door policy meant everyone from partner to trainee was incredibly friendly and helpful.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Did work that a real trainee would do, including seeking local counsel opinion, sitting in client meetings, drafting emails to clients, etc, although obviously the quality of work was closely monitored by trainee buddies and principals.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Amazing exposure to realities of legal work; learnt more about the practice of law than you could possibly get in a classroom setting!

  • Friendly, supportive, dynamic.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Grad rec did an amazing job. The training was top-notch: we attended talks from department representatives and partners, participated in a client pitch and an arbitration exercise. On top of that, the social events were great fun (cocktail mixing!)

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Met a great bunch of people and we still keep in touch now.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Corporate social responsibility activities (we went tree planting!) Some other vac schemes students got into pro bono work. Also the social activities were amazing - dinner at Ivy, cocktail making classes, postwork drinks etc.
