The Role
There is a variety of different aspects to the role. Lots of different tasks given. Colleagues are extremely welcoming and include you in the group straight away.
Given lots of responsibility and praise for doing jobs well.
lots of support given by not only my manager but the rest of the team. All willing to help if stuck on anything and all wanted me to get the best experience possible out of the placement.
Some days were quieter than others but always had market research projects to be getting on with. A day could start out quiet and by the end of the day you could be rushing round with lots to do. Each day was different!
Lots of responsibility. The LinkedIn page is completely managed by myself. Also, had the responsibility of chairing the team meetings and planning a couple of global meetings. One of these involved a trip to Paris.
Developed many different skills during my placement. However, the main thing that I feel will help me in the future is the large global nature of Lubrizol. I have met and had to communicate and work with different people from all over the world. This has helped me to gain invaluable skills in communication etc.
The Company
Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Always invited to go get a coffee with the team and have a chat.
Well organised. It is clear who you need to talk to if you have an issue or a question. Sometimes difficult as mangers and members of the team travel globally a lot. The 2 week handover period with the previous student was invaluable for ensuring things got off to a good start.
Always happy to give feedback or suggestions on how to improve. Willing to teach you how to do something if not sure. Had the chance to go n a business trip to Paris which was an exciting and useful experience in terms of personal development.

Company Parties/Events
Unfortunately, the role is always filled by a placement student. However, there are similar roles which once graduated you may be able to apply for.
The Culture
Extremely good. A lot of the students live in houses of 4 or 5 and plan lots of social events such as nights out. a xmas dinner. film nights and pancake making.
Rent seems to be a bit cheaper than other cities such as Nottingham.
Nightlife was ok but not fantastic. However, you can easily and cheaply catch the Red Arrow into Nottingham, where there is a much larger array of nightlife.
Yes. There is a sports and social club who organising lots of events throughout the year. These are discounted if you become a member. Events include anything from go karting to walking in the peak district.
