The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at the Babcock International Group. I was provided with exciting day to day tasks and assigned interesting projects within a variety of different departments. Additionally I was provided with extensive training which will pay dividends in the future.
My team were very welcoming and supportive throughout my placement. They did their best to include me in all business activity including executive meetings, site visits, conference calls etc.
My managers were extremely helpful from day one - supporting me with in-depth training sessions, working with me on my PDP and helping me with any queries. Additionally they were very good with issues such as holiday and sickness.
I was normally busy on a daily basis with a manageable workload - of course some days were busier than others. However in such a case where I began to feel my workload became too heavy – other members of my team would be on hand to help out.
I was given a significant amount of responsibility for an Undergraduate – providing me with extensive work experience and many duties I can put on my CV.
Throughout my placement I learnt/developed several skills through training and working – some of which more ‘generic’ than others. However the majority of these skills will be transferrable and very useful to my final year of University and any jobs I may have in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was relatively professional however was also social and relaxed.
My placement was very well organised with clear schedules and outcomes set by my managers.
The company invested a lot of resources in training me and working on my PDP (including aspects such as my CV, portfolio, skill development etc).
