The Role
Really enjoyed my placement. Was placed within a friendly, helpful team and the project that I was given wasn't boring and very interesting to work on.
Although a new member everyone was really supportive and willing to take time out of their busy schedules to help me complete my project.
My manager was really helpful and took time out to give me guidance on what direction to take and was always willing to talk to me about any concerns I may have.
Every day I had my project to work on along with other events to attend giving an insight into the bank. The day never dragged and I always felt that the work I was doing on a daily basis was worthwhile.
The project that I was given was an independent project that I was a 100% responsible for. I was given access to many files to complete my project and was trusted to use this information responsibly.
The skills that I have gained from the internship have been invaluable. By being able to put my theory into practice on project development has helped me to understand the pitfalls and experience them for myself. I have also been given the opportunity to practice my presenting skills and I think that I am a much better presenter and have grown in confidence.
The Company
Really friendly atmosphere. The people around my desk were very chatty and really easy to get along with. Everyone around the floor was really supportive and always willing to help me complete my project and never seemed annoyed when I asked them for help.
Very organized had no problems enrolling and the recruiters always kept in touch to make sure everything was going OK and that I was happy with how everything was going.
A lot of external companies were brought in to give us train on many different areas of the bank and on various skills including presentation skills, java training, excel training.

The Culture
Met up regularly for drinks and lunches between fellow interns and also within the team I was in.
Obviously London is going to be a bit more expensive. But prices were reasonable depending on where you went.
In London their are endless bars, clubs, restaurants to choose from and there is something for everyone.
Various sporting activities, charity work, talks to attend.
