The Role
Unfortunately I did not enjoy this placement due to a lack of support and guidance from the company
Quite often I felt very much 'the intern' and wasn't treated in the same manner as other team members, often not being as involved in the team
In my time at Mattel, I had 3 managers which was difficult to deal with and unfortunately HR did not offer me the support I needed
Most of the time, I was quite busy
The amount of responsibility I was given was sufficient and I was given a few interesting projects to tackle on my own
Unfortunately what I have learned from this experience is to always watch your back in a large corporate company, and there are other companies that won't 'baby' you as an intern and will treat you with the same benefits as other employees (i.e. work laptop etc)
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was quite tense however it was often light hearted and enjoyable.
This was well organised however, I felt it was too organised. I often felt 'babied' and as though I was at school. I feel as though interns should be thrown into work in the same way as everyone else
Investment here was sufficient however the quality of the training was not. Often things weren't explained properly and it felt as though the training and support was done just because it had to be done
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Unappealing for me, this is not the type of organisation I would wish to work in.
The Culture
The social side was good as there were quite a few interns and we would meet up socially quite a lot
The social scene in this area is not good at all, not a lot to do and quite secluded
Not good at all
There were quite a few activities such as sports activities and charity activities
