About You
A brilliant insight. I learnt a lot about the industry despite having already completed 4 banking internships previously. Also our intern class was lovely and HR are very friendly.
Very valued - even small things such as HR remembering my name on the first day made me feel valued.
Guidance when lost/confused as to what you should be doing is always readily available from HR. I did not need much support but I am sure that this would be available if required.
You learn a LOT of useful banking terminology that first-years without a spring week will not know. Also the presentation skills session is genuinely useful for university presentations.
The Company
There was a timetable given out at the beginning which was very detailed and told you what you'd be doing at any given time during the day. Also HR respected the time table so we never overran which is good.
Friendly, sincere and educational. Everyone is clearly here to learn about Barclays and enjoy the spring week rather than compete against and undermine each other.
Presentation skills sessions and networking sessions were good examples of this.
You don't get to shadow at an IBD desk which is a shame. However work shadowing for all other divisions is great.
The session on Barclays' Values is hugely inspiring, Also you can get a feel of the culture from the interactions you have with employees, and it was all positive vibes.
Very very useful. Each day a panel of representatives from a division present to the class and this along with meeting people and shadowing constructs a solid idea of where you would like to be and what matches your skill set.
Everything Else
I was not reimbursed because I had 0 travel expenses.
Yes, plenty.
Great if you made use of them properly.
Football, (11 and 5 a side) netball and rugby are offered as far as I am aware.
Definitely.
