About You
I loved the Barclays Spring Programme, previously I didn't have a clear idea of what each job's function in the front office was. After attending the Barclays Spring Programme, I was blown away from the exposure to the senior people in each division who took their valuable time to come to speak to us, with plenty of networking sessions and the 2 great work shadowing opportunities. I now have a much clearer idea of what each part of the front office and how it operates, and being able to ask many people from each division in person in each of the brilliant networking sessions. I highly recommend the spring week to other prospective applicants.
I always felt highly valued, as Barclays sourced some of the best speakers from each division to give the divisional presentations, including managing directors. We were always well looked after with included expenses that covered all the living costs for the week. The venue where the spring week was run had great views, with top quality gourmet food for lunch.
We received allot of guidance and support, since we had 6 hours of work shadowing with 2 divisions of which we personally picked.
The skills I learnt and knowledge are such a great asset for later applying for the Spring Internship at Barclays.
The Company
It was very well structured, with a time table given to us which detailed out all the timings for the entire week, along with the location where we needed to be, so we knew exactly when/where to be. The structure of the material was very good as well.
Very strong team working atmosphere, with everyone helping each other, and allot of exposure to employees to ask any questions about their roles or the group work. Always well looked after with a full catering staff for the entire day for all the meeting rooms, providing breaks with tea, coffee and gourmet foods such as gourmet cake at regular times throughout each day.
They taught us allot about each division in the Investment Bank, additionally they further our skills sets by challenging us with very interesting group projects.
Had multiple opportunities to network one on one with employees from each division, including senior members of each division.
Very satisfied with the 2 work placement opportunities.
Very valuable as we were able to speak to people in the roles of the bank of which we were most interested in, and were able to ask them plenty of working day to day questions.
Everything Else
I was paid and reimbursed expenses.
Plenty of opportunity to network with senior people from the company at multiple points throughout every day.
Social event opportunities were fantastic, had an evening with the best view in Canary Wharf, in the companies main building with drinks included. There was many senior people from the bank, to which we networked with, which was very insightful and tremendously important for building up our professional network.
Yes, there are many social and team working events after work, such as the companies football team.
Yes definitely, such a great experience and I have learned allot.
