About You
Barclays Spring Week gives a remarkable opportunity to explore the different business areas across the Company and examine how they operate under a set of clear values: Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship (RISES). Every student is encouraged to be curious and ask as many questions as possible. Finally, you will be given the chance to be fast-tracked to the summer internship programme! To conclude, my new friends, colleagues and I have enjoyed our experience with Barclays.
The Human Resources department representatives are always around to make your week as efficient, informative and comfortable as possible. You always have your number one contact.
I was introduced to Banking, Global Markets and Personal Corporate Banking (PCB) from industry experts and had the opportunity to network with all levels of employees, from analysts to heads.
Throughout the week, you will be given the chance to practice your team-working, pitching and presentation skills through various tasks.
The Company
At the beginning of the week, I was given a sheet of paper, where I could see how my time would be spent throughout the week. This helped me to stay on track of the programme and prepare in advance for various sessions.
The friendly atmosphere enabled me not only to concentrate on the content of the spring week, but to create a new circle of friends with whom I might be potentially working with!
Barclays invested heavily to provide the highest quality of personal training and development internally and externally. Internally, the spring week started by drawing a general picture of the different business areas. After a few days, with the help of HR representatives, you narrow down your preferences and shadow analysts in the areas chosen by you. Externally, Barclays have provided accommodation and travel expenses, which helped me to concentrate far more efficiently on the spring week's content.
During the last two days, everyone is given the opportunity to shadow analysts in the chosen areas. The insight is tailored to each student individually and provides a unique opportunity to understand the role of a full time analyst.
Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship (RISES). These are the values that are introduced to spring interns at the very first day. I was guided through each of them by different representatives. The culture under RISES values is strong and assists employees to operate under one united set of values.
The content was delivered by all levels of experienced employees, ranging from analysts to heads. Each provide their view of our career path and the key points we should be concentrating on throughout each stage of the recruitment process, graduate role analyst and above.
Everything Else
I was paid for one of the top accommodations in London. Additionally, I was reimbursed for the travel expenses and have also received a payment worth £250.
The networking session was held at Barclays main building, where I had the opportunity to meet VPs of Equity Research, Trading and Equity Research.

This differs across different business areas and desks, but at least once a month everyone goes out together for a drink.
Definitely!
