The Role
The work I was given gave me a real indication of the trainee- level work at Linklaters. the work was varied and challenging but still interesting and gave a true representation of the nature of the work undertake at Linklaters.
Everyone in both the departments I sat in made an effort to provide interesting work and constructive feedback. They also ensured we had training sessions in order to better understand the work and involved us in other activities happening around the office.
The HR and Graduate Recruitment team were extremely supportive and always around to address any queries we had.
The numerous social events coupled with the interesting work created the necessary balance.
At Linklaters, it appears you are given as much responsibility as possible.
The scheme provided many skills, especially time management and presentational skills. The former has been integral in helping me organise my timetable during my final year whereas the latter will be useful throughout life.
The Company
As mentioned, there were numerous social events organised by the firm itself. On the days where no events were set up, the staff and other vacation scheme students were sociable and often it would turn into our own social.
There were no organisational glitches and everyone's particular requirements were always catered for in all the events.
They provided extensive training throughout the four weeks in terms of introducing us to the areas they work in and focused a lot on training within our own departments too. Moreover, the projects and client pitches which we undertook further aided our training and development.

The Culture
All the placement students thoroughly enjoyed the scheme and we still keep in touch.
Living in London is naturally slightly expensive but we did find some places which were very reaosnably priced.
The area Linklaters is in (Barbican and near Shoreditch/ Liverpool Street) is a very trendy part of London with numerous things to do throughout the week.
There were many opportunities such as a Community Investment Day during which we helped plant trees at a local park.
