About You
Found it very enjoyable and insightful since it covered a broad range of activities, with lots of information but was still plenty of fun too!
For the brief time that we've been here Barclays had made sure that we feel at ease and not intimidated by the workplace which I found very welcoming. All my ideas and inputs were listened to and everyone I met gave me the time of day to answer my questions and give me advice.
We had plenty of spotlight sessions where we were given a presentation and adequate direction for group interactive activities - there was still scope for providing your own input and they made sure that we engaged with the insight week as much as we could
I have been able to develop a broad range of skills such as teamwork, presentation, communication and networking which are all valuable soft skills but also instalment of values will be of worth for decision making and conduct both at uni and beyond!
The Company
It was very well structured - the mixture of spotlight sessions, shadowing and panel discussions as well as networking opportunities was the perfect mixture for getting the most out of the week since I got a broad overview as well as detailed insights into the areas I was interested in.
Non threatening and very friendly - the kind of environment where everyone wants to learn and it is the atmosphere that is encouraged throughout the weak. Helped me work as well since it allowed me not to hold back when asking problems or getting involved in group activities.
Entire week was well developed and so many people were involved with plenty of support for everything to make sure we got the most out of it.
It was a very broad overview and it was a lot sessions for learning about the company and the roles but the work shadowing sessions were very helpful this. We got to see grads in the workplace, find out what we do and the kind of things we would get involved with.
They were very keen to instil values which I think is very important and you can see them in place wherever you go - they are the kind of values everyone should live by and it is often reflected in employees who are very friendly and approachable as well as helpful.
Very important since the insight week gives you very in-depth information about where we could fit in and what all the different roles would entail and has helped me make a better decision.
Everything Else
Adequate for expenses of London travel and general expenses
Networking evening, panels lunches etc. where more than acceptable
We were given plenty of guidance and even business cards to hand out which was a little detail which I really appreciated but otherwise they were all very helpful.
Lots of emphasis on work life balance
Absolutely!
