    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I've really enjoyed spending 10 weeks with J.P. Morgan, learning about the industry, the company, the business and meeting lots of great people there. I really liked the culture at J.P. Morgan, where everyone was very friendly and approachable, and also very professional and enjoyed working there. The work I did was real and meaningful and I was valued there. J.P. Morgan invests a lot of time and money in the summer internship program, because they really do want to find and keep the best people.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt my team treated me as they would treat a permanent team member and really valued the work I did. They listened to the ideas I had and took time to help and teach me and share with me their experience. They also gave me credit for the work I did with them.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly one-to-one meetings with my manager, and regular meetings with other team members I worked with. The team members set me tasks to do with some guidance and the rest for me to try and figure out myself first, but if I had any questions, everyone was very approachable and happy to help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My daily workload varied as I worked on various projects. Sometimes I had a full day of meetings, sometimes my workload wasn't that big - but I never found myself having nothing to do, as there is always some work that needed to be done and something you can be doing.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work I was set were real and contributed towards big important projects involving senior executives - if I didn't do it someone else would have needed to do it. I was even given a project I owned and managed myself. I felt I was given real responsibilities and that I was trusted by the team to do the work set for me to a high standard.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed at J.P. Morgan are definitely useful, whether it's time management and prioritisation, different levels of communication, project planning and management, team management and team work etc.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I really liked the atmosphere in the office, it wasn't too noisy or quiet. Everyone was very friendly and approachable, and there was a lot of interaction between everyone.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very structured. We were assigned a manager, a senior advisor (Executive or Managing Director level) and a buddy (someone who's currently on the graduate program). HR set up various Senior Speaker talks from across the globe who talked about their work and experience and gave us useful advice for our internship and our career. We also had various networking events and breakfast and graduate panels. We were also asked to complete mandatory training and work including arranging work shadows with other teams to see different areas of the bank.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had full access to a vast amount of training materials on the intranet, and as mentioned in the previous question, HR organised various events for us throughout our internship.
