The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship - it was always interesting and I had a wide range of projects to work on and I have learnt a lot.
I am treated as an equal. Everyone shows interest in what I'm working on and are always happy to help.
I have been given sufficient support and guidance by my managers. They provided me with a vast amount of opportunities and tailored a lot of the work to my interests and personal development goals.
I was always busy and had a number of deadlines but it was never too much.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. I was given a number of projects to work on independently and was able to attend external meetings on behalf of CRUK.
The internship has been an invaluable experience. I had the opportunity to write a blog for CRUK which improved my writing skills. I have developed a much better understanding of health policy which will be useful in my future career.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The people in the team were generally a positive group to work with. All in all, the atmosphere was really good.
The internship was very well structured and organised. Our tasks were clearly defined and we had weekly 1:1s with or managers to ensure everything was going well.
CRUK gave us a CV workshop which allowed us to improve our CV and cover letters. We were also given personal development packs to ensure we got the most out of the internship.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
The employment prospects are good and quite a few interns got jobs. There are various opportunities and these are circulated throughout the internship.
The Culture
There were often after work drunks and the interns had lunch together pretty much everyday!
It wasn't too expensive (compared to other places in London)
I didn't go out much but there were a few good pubs/bars in the area.
Yes - there was a number of intern fundraisers and other opportunities in the organisation.
