The Role
I really enjoyed it. It's very well organised and I had the chance to work on different and exciting projects and develop important skills for future jobs. I also had a mentor to help me with my career objectives. I highly recommend it.
I felt very valued and really part of the team. I was considered in every decision involving my tasks and updated with all important information concerning the team and the charity.
I was given all the support and guidance I needed to develop my project and my tasks successfully. I had regular 1:1 catch-ups and I felt comfortable to ask my line manager any questions I could possibly have.
I wasn't very busy, but this was in part because of me. I could have taken on more work if I'd like to. My project was quite analytical and it took me a long time to finish it. It was quite challenging and satisfying though.
Not much, but again I could have asked for more responsibility if I'd like to. However, I was totally responsible for the project I was given to.
They assisted me a lot to improve my employability.
The Company
Really good, everyone was really friendly and open.
Extremely organised. I had an Induction Day with all other interns, individual inductions with all members of my team, a written development plan, regular 1:1 catch-ups with my line manager and also a wrap up event at the end.
Cancer Research invests a lot in its interns. I had a CV and Interview skills training and also a presentation skills workshop, which were very useful.

Very appealing. As an intern, you have real chances to get a paid job within the charity after your internship if you deliver a good job.
The Culture
Yes, an excellent social scene, with lots of fun fundraising events and after-work drinks.
A little expensive, but the charity offers a lovely subsidised canteen which is quite helpful. A lot of the social events took place there.
Very busy and lively.
Yes, many excellent opportunities to get involved in fundraising events along with other teams and also in team lunches and after-work drinks.
