About You
This was a hugely enjoyable opportunity. The firm made a huge effort to ensure the students on the workshop were taken care of and were taking part in interesting things. I was 100% recommend to anyone thinking about a career in a London Law Firm.
They tried very hard with us, and during the different tasks and workshops they made sure the students had a lot of input into the discussion and everyone seemed genuinely interested in our thoughts and ideas as well as answering every question to their utmost ability. While I was shadowing a trainee, both her and her supervisor put a lot of effort into talking to me and giving me things to do that actually helped them in their work.
They had a clear timetable and structure and there was always someone with us to guide us. It was very hands on for the current staff and they were very engaged in helping us come to understand how their firm worked.
It was very informative about a career in such a firm, and their application talk and all the events have made me much more confident about further applications to both Herbert Smith Freehills and other such law firms.
The Company
The workshop had a great timetable and structure, we were kept very busy, and always on interesting tasks and discussion. The evening drinks was a very good inclusion at it was both hugely enjoyable and gave us the opportunity to talk to anyone from the firm.
It was always very positive and friendly and upbeat. Despite apprehension at first, I had a great time and all the students seemed to hugely enjoy themselves.
They invested in helping us understand the firm for the future.
They tried very hard and gave us realistic expectations of the work. It was very insightful
The company wore their culture on their sleeve and made it very clear that they were proud to be an open, inviting and team based workplace.
Very helpful - it confirmed my ideas and made me much more motivated than before.
Everything Else
They paid for accommodation and food, and reimbursed travel expenses to a certain degree.
Very much so, every task had a different group from the firm helping the students and the networking drinks were a great evening.
Great! So much fun and also very informative. I spoke to so many people, both trainees and partners about all kinds of things.
It was very much focused on the life at the firm rather than outside, but conversations did reveal the kind of life a few of them lead outside of work. The firm's Pro Bono work came up a bit.
100%. Anyone thinking about a career at a big firm should try and go to an event like this.
