About You
I really enjoyed the insight 2 days and found them very informative.
I felt very valued; Deloitte made a great effort to bring in a wide range of its people to run activities with us and answer any questions we had.
Lots of guidance on job opportunities available in the future.
People skills was a big feature of these 2 days - meeting new people and embracing differences is a life skill I enjoyed practising. In terms of degree studies, the internship was not helpful, but it was not designed to help specifically with this.
The Company
The best thing about it was the structure; everything seemed relevant and useful and we were kept very busy for 2 days. Very well-organised and very enjoyable.
A very friendly general atmosphere (which I have not found at other firms' internship days). No condescension or being talked down to; everyone was there ready to help. The other people there were all like-minded, not over-competitive and I made some good friends.
The company are going to provide a 'conversion interview' for a fast-track place onto their Summer Vacation Scheme (if successful).
We did lots of 'Business games' which mirror the day-to-day roles of Deloitte's employees. I think it would be difficult to ever really know what working for a firm would be like until you're actually there doing it, but they got pretty close.
Very much; a friendly culture of hard-work and rewards.
Massively helpful; I completely changed my mind on what service areas I wanted to apply for having learned more about them all.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses (up to £50). They also paid for food for 2 days and accommodation (and evening meal) at a Marriott Hotel which was very nice.
Yes; I met at least 15 members of Deloitte, one of whom gave me her card and said to contact her if I had any questions. They emphasised the importance of networking.
Good; evening meal. There wasn't much time for social activities as the days were full of business games and talks.
Yes; plenty of opportunities, clubs and societies. Sports teams, free alcohol events etc.
Absolutely.
