About You
I enjoyed the 2 day spring into Deloitte programme quite a lot as it was informative but also engaging with several games and plenty of time to talk to Deloitte programmes.
Although this was primarily a recruitment event, I felt very valued as we were treated like new employees rather than simply students.
We heard a lot from different people in all different departments from Deloitte who were very helpful and eager to answer any questions as well as offering lots of useful information and insights into the firm.
We participated in a mock interview situation with immediate feedback so that is very useful to carry that advice forward straight away for real interviews. The information about different sections of Deloitte will be very helpful when it comes to making decisions about which areas to apply for in the future. Although there were several business games, I don't feel they really developed any particular skills.
The Company
The plan was outlined early on and followed closely throughout however sometimes too much time was allocated to certain activities.
The atmosphere was shy and nervy at first but soon enough everyone was getting along well, students and staff included.
As it was a 2 day event generally aimed at understanding the company so the only personal development was the mock interview.
This was a primary focus of the event and talking to lots of employees helped achieve this aim.
After discussion of the overall experience and services offered by Deloitte really helped me understand what it would be like to work for Deloitte.
I have a much clearer idea of what the different job titles actually mean so can now feel a lot more confident making decisions going forward. The sector I was most interested in was covered adequately as well as all sectors being described enough to gain a clear picture.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses (up to £50) and provided food and overnight accomodation.
Yes, throughout both days and at a networking dinner.
The networking dinner was a nice meal where we were seated in groups with Deloitte employees. This was ample time to talk about a variety of topics. The only issue was that there was no opportunity to rotate tables until quite late at the end of a very long day for some.
Several employees detailed different activities they got involved with and gave a good idea of the opportunities available.
Yes, I think its a worthwhile experience for somebody who is unsure of what they would like to do.
