The Role
I had a really good internship and found that I was well suited to the type of job I was doing, which was thought provoking and required good analytical skills. The programme was really well organised by HR with lots of social/networking events and on top of this my team were both friendly and helpful.
Right from the start I was given real work to do along with responsiblity on a par with permanent members of the team. I wasn't just left on my own however but given help and guidance to complete my objectives all the way.
Feedback was given regularly on an informal basis as well as whenever I asked for it. In addition I was given a formal mid-term appraisal five weeks into the internship and an end of itnernship appraisal where feedback was given honestly and in detail.
Found myself very busy and there were a few late nights across the ten week period. However this was the nature of the job and my team were constantly talking to me trying to find the right balance of work to give to me. Also there was some flexibility to organise my work as I saw fit and therefore you could 'manage' these busy periods.
I honestly feel I was given real responsibilty, despite my lack of experience, as I was treated like a perment member of the team. For instance I was helping to prepare credit papers and making presentations to senior management. I was given real work that the team relied on and a lot of trust was placed in me early on.
Most of the skills I learnt were quite specific to investment banking/finance but still may come in useful in later life. The training on this was superb with a full weeks training at the start of the internship and online support through the next nine weeks. I was also given the chance to present regularly thus helping my presentation skills.
The Company
Everyone worked very hard and this sometimes meant there was little 'time' for fun. However everyone got on really well and there was a good atmosphere in the office.
HR did a superb job and I can honestly think of nothing going wrong throughout the internship. Events were organised regularly and feedback was often requested on ways to improve.
Had a full weeks traing at the beginning of the itnernship and online learning thereafter. More importantly however the people in my team invested considerable time and effort into myself even if this meant they themselves leaving late.

Company Parties/Events
Full-time employment leads to a wealth of opportunities in the future and can open so many doors in a vibrant and constantly changing industry.
The Culture
Excellent formal socials organised but other interns went out of their way to organise informal drinks or after-work activities.
London can be quite an expensive place to live and work but we were compensated for this.
London has some fantastic nightclubs!
Was given the opportunity to join any one of the many social clubs and organisations at the company and was also included in all office socials etc.
