The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Aldi as it is a very fast paced business so you always had something to do.
My team were fantastic - both in store and in head office.
I was given constant feedback throughout my placement so I knew which areas I had to improve on and which areas I was doing well in.
I was constantly busy throughout my placement. The days never felt long enough.
I was given huge responsibility from day 1 and you get more responsibility as the placement goes on. I felt really valued as my Area Manager would trust me with crucial tasks.
My commercial awareness is at a much higher standard now as Aldi let you see every side of the business and give you projects throughout your time in each department. My excel skills have improved dramatically also since joining Aldi as the majority of projects are excel based.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly in both store and head office. I never felt like I couldn't approach anyone.
The placement was very well structured. I knew exactly what I was doing throughout my full year and if there were any changes made then I was notified immediately.
The company invested a lot of time in me with regards to training.

The graduate position is very appealing if you have completed the placement as your time will be shortened if you decide to progress onto the graduate scheme.
The Culture
I was very good friends with my fellow placement students and we spent our time in head office together. This was good as you spent time in different departments and anything you were unsure about - you could ask a fellow placement student and you could help each other with your projects.
My store was beside my house so I could walk there and back.
As the placement was very demanding and time consuming I very rarely went out after work. When I got to head office I only worked Monday-Friday so it was better then.
