The Role
Immensely as I have got to experience working in a corporate environment with departments all over the world. Cummins also gave me a platform to translate theory learnt from University to the work environment.
I feel very valued by my team members and I have been allowed to express myself, my opinions and suggestions have always been valued and taken on board.
I was given support constantly and had a mentor who shadowed me for my placement year. This was also done on a flexible basis as I was allowed to work autonomously but with the added support if I ever needed it.
I had to plan my weeks in advance as I had numerous core tasks that kept me really busy. Furthermore I would be assigned tasks as and when I was required which meant that I had to manage my time wisely.
I was allowed to work on numerous projects on my own and was also given the opportunity to manage my own time, so that I was able to experience different facets of the business but also gain a broader understanding of Cummins Culture and business.
They will assist me greatly as I have matured through this process and am better at time management as well as having a better knowledge of how theories translate to real world working environment.
The Company
Warm and friendly but still very professional.
Very well organised as the placement programme has been in place for some time now.
I was able to gain qualifications and specific training that I wanted through the companies learning and development program.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I would love to come back and work for Cummins as I know their future is bright and that they take care of their employees well. I also feel that they would give me the best opportunity to continue learning and developing myself professionally and personally.
The Culture
Yes it was excellent.
Very affordable
Descent, but there are many other towns within the region that are just as good and provide added variety.
Cummins has a strong Corporate Responsibility ethos and thus I was able to engage with charity organisations who are Cummins community partners. This was satisfying and humbling, as this allowed me to pursue charitable deeds as part of the work I did.
