The Role
I enjoyed this placement as I worked with 10+ other students so I did not feel alone and everyone got on really well. I also enjoyed this particular placement as there was lots of involvement with charity. However I would not like to pursue a career in procurement as I found it did not give me enugh satisfaction.
I felt that everyone got on really well there were no issues. I found it easy to talk to my colleagues about work and also non work related subjects.
When I realised I needed some additional training I emaield my manager who was very helpful. He appointed someone that could give me training on a daily basis.
I was one of the luckier students who seemed to have more work. I dont think the workload is shared out that great as some students didnt seem to have a lot of work. Each day I seemed to have enough work to keep me going however the workload can vary.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility as I was in control of chasing up parts that hadnt been received from suppliers, etc.
I have learned how to use a system called SAP which is widely used in todays businesses. I have also imporved on communications skills and presentation skills which can be used in future jobs and through the last year of my uni.
The Company
The atmosphere was good everyone was friendly but at teh end of the day it was still an office job which I find can be quite dull.
I found the placement was set up quite well. I think there should have been more traning provided at the start.
There are courses avaliable such as green belt training and interview training which I found beneficial.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I think it is a good company to work with and great benefits avaliable.
The Culture
Yes tehre was a good social scene as students regularly meet up and go out on night outs, all the female students chipped in for each others birthday present aswell and xmas night out was organised.
I live in the area anyway so I found the prices okay not cheap but not dear.
nightlife was good amongst the students
charity work - so things like marathons etc can be organised. Also students like to arrange nights out with each other aswell.
