The Role
I have enjoyed every second of the placement to an extent, every day during my placement has been different and interesting at the same time. There has been some challenging and difficult times and also some calm and collective times. I have enjoyed meeting a different variety of people, both internally and externally through connections at Cummins. I have enjoyed my placement here very well and do not regret making the decision to work here for 12 months.
I feel extremely valued by my colleagues and I am praised regularly for the work I do. I work with a strong team of people that are very knowledgeable and determined to get a job done. The team work together more often that not and share updates and experiences with the team on a weekly basis, making sure communication is on point.
My managers and supervisors during placement have been very supportive and have helped out whenever I have needed it. Regular meetings are carried out to share updates and any problems that have occurred. The team have been very understandable during my time here and I appreciate all their help.
The job is from an operations perspective and the tasks I do are pretty much different every day. Not one day has been the same whilst working here, there are different people coming into the office and tasks that can change the whole plan for the day. Keeping up with the database of work requests on site is a daily task of mine.
I have been given more responsibility than I expected whilst I have been here. I have to ensure that things get done around site to make sure the site is maintained and that everything runs smoothly. I have to make some important decisions based on time, money and resources, therefore putting a big responsibility onto my position.
I have gained much more confidence and knowledge whilst being here. I have decided to base my dissertation on a case study of what I have learnt here and to then investigate further. The placement has opened my eyes to more opportunities and driven me to look into jobs I would have never looked into before.
The Company
Brilliant, always cheerful, yet determined to get work done. Everyone in the office is very friendly and everyone on site I work with are very helpful- the placement would not have been the same without them!
I have learnt from the previous placement student and he passed all of his roles onto me. I was sometimes thrown into the deep end, however I could not have seen this to be done any other way. The tasks are sometimes difficult and the only way to learn is to do it for yourself. There is plenty going on in the office for work to be done at all times.
Very well, I have attended several training courses based in London including, understanding facilities management, IOSH, asbestos awareness, and information and knowledge management. I have been very lucky and I am extremely grateful for all training that I have carried out. This will look very professional on my CV.
Very appealing, the company is great to work for and everyone loves it here. I have heard great things and the company are very supportive.
The Culture
I go to the canteen almost every day with the other placement students, the social side of the placement is really good. Having friends to see on a lunch break is very fun.
Normal/average.
Great when there is a good atmosphere.
Yes.
