The Role
I enjoy being given strong responsibilities for what I do. I never imagine that a placement student would have so much responsibility. I enjoy working with different people as that enabled myself to pick up different skills set from everyone. Lots of training are provided at CTT
Highly. To my previous comment, what I do on a daily basis is very important how other colleagues work. It makes me feel valued as I know that we are helping each other to complete our weekly tasks.
My manager provides support every day. From guidance to sending an email to tips on how to approach a certain task.
I would say for the first 6 months of the placement my days were 60% full with work. but towards the last 6 months of my placement I am getting work from all different areas within IT, making my daily calendar 90% full.
I am being given a lot of responsibility but not to the extent that if I failed to do something the company would suffer.
Unfortunately the skills I have learnt from CTT doesn't 100% link with what I do at Uni, simply because this is not an IT company. It is very business orientated. What I have learnt though is that business side of things which will help me with my business modules at university. I feel that when advertising this placement, CTT should point out that no programming skills will be needed and this role should be advertised to business students as well as IT.
The Company
The general atmosphere in IT at CTT is very friendly and cheerful.
There was no structure on how my placement was going to go.

Very. I feel that this is a very good company to work for. Unfortunately, the headcount for IT is low, meaning that a placement student getting a grad job is very difficult
The Culture
Yes, we always meet up at lunch times or have social events in the evening. However, it has been difficult because sometimes an IT student cannot really bond with 8-10 engineering students. I would be good if CTT took on two IT students.
Rent for my house with £325 p/m Social wise - depends on how often you were to go out but the standard £30-40 a night (Saturday)
It's ok. But compared to Nottingham it's rather boring
Yes. Placement students have a personal facebook page and we tend to organise events on a weekly basis
