About You
This week has been very informative and fun. We've been introduced to people and the culture, which has given me a better overall picture of the firm. The added tasks (the commercial challenge) and workshops have given the experience more structure and value.
The associate I was working with had a pressing deadline, and his trainee solicitor was away on vacation, so he gave me lots of work and kept me busy. It was great to feel like my efforts were helping him meet his deadline.
There has been so much guidance and support at every step of the insight, from HR to the Partners, everyone has been so helpful and welcoming.
As I'm currently studying the LPC, the work I got from the associate has been a really good experience to see what it's like to be a trainee (which is the next stop on my path to being a solicitor). It gave me good insight on the type of work I might be getting in the future, and the pace at which an international commercial firm works at. Of course the planned events are helpful in terms of the content (ie. the CV workshop and the Vacation Scheme/Training Contract information session) have been useful. Not to mention the support from the HR staff who are more than happy and willing to help us out.
The Company
Very well structured, the planned events, lunches, workshops have been very helpful.
TW has been so welcoming, and would undoubtedly be a wonderful place to work.
In terms of personal development, of course working in such a reputable international firm is very helpful. The fact that TW run this insight/work experience week in itself shows that the firm takes an interest in promoting the legal career path, and encourages it.
This week has given me a good idea of what it would be like to be a trainee solicitor. The work I did with Abdool Salehmohamed has been a very useful and rewarding personal experience.
Spending almost a week at TW has given me an idea of the culture of the firm, the friendly and open-door culture is evident even just being here for a single day.
Doing work with Abdool has confirmed that law is what I want to do, and that I want to practice in an international commercial law firm.
Everything Else
I was not paid, but the experience in itself was payment enough.
There have been opportunities every step of the way, from meeting the HR team to trainees, associates and partners.
The networking lunch was great. It was helpful to meet different individuals at different stages of their career and hear about their experiences.
I know that TW runs various activities, sports teams, and the Christmas Carolling were particularly memorable.
