About You
I massively enjoyed the Spring Insight Programme, it ticked all the boxes in terms of learning more about working at the firm, getting in-depth insights into the divisions of the business, and getting the opportunity to work shadow.
Very much so, the inclusive culture at the firm in general is welcoming and everybody was happy to help the interns if we needed any help on our group projects etc.
The environment at Rothschild is such that you don't feel reluctant to ask for help if there's something you don't quite understand, and all of the employees we met throughout the business were more than happy to support you in gaining a better understanding - for example when I was shadowing there was much I did not understand but my Analyst made helpful clarifications.
I would not say it is particularly applicable to my degree, although that is because I don't study a finance-related subject and so there is no insight programme which is especially transferable.
The Company
Perfectly, activities were efficiently packed within the time schedule to ensure we got to see as much of the business as possible. It all ran extremely smoothly.
It was fantastic, the set of interns I was with were great people and I felt that the relatively small intake for the Rothschild Spring Programme allows you to get to know everybody very well. On top of that employees were equally as pleasant and made a very favourable impression on me.
We learnt a lot about areas of the business we had less knowledge on previously so this was definitely useful, but there is only so much you can take from a week, and of course a tour of the Rothschild galleries.
The work shadowing was the main insight into this I would say, what better way to learn as a first year than by witnessing the work being done.
Very well, put some context into the independent advisory business model that Rothschild uses and you could really see how this is beneficial in client relationships. The bank as a whole was a very collegiate place and finds a nice balance between intensity and friendliness.
Very good, the week cemented my pre-existing views but of course this is still incredibly important as there as so many different career options being thrown in your face at University.
Everything Else
Expenses reimbursed.
A mass of opportunities, we had lunch with analysts and they were generally available to help us with our group projects when we required them, on top of that we had a networking session with more senior employees which was great.
Good. Both in terms of the chance to socialise as a group of interns with drinks on the first night, and to network with employees.
Yes. We participated in an afternoon of volunteering at the Wildlife Trust which is something that Rothschild employees have the opportunity to do regularly if they please.
Massively, it was fantastic.
