About You
The Insight provided a good introduction to the different service lines with relevant case studies. It also introduced us to essential skills like interview technique and commercial awareness. The best part was the diverse range of activities that were conducted. It was good to hear the experiences of employees first hand. More informal interaction and networking would be great.
The firm took good care of us throughout the two days. Accommodation was provided and travel expenses were partially refunded, During the day, food and other essentials were taken care of.
There were many service line specialists during the different case study activities to guide us along the way. Further guidance on the interview process would be appreciated. Guidance regarding skills such as personal impact in a business environment could also be more.
I feel I will be much better able to address case studies as well as interview questions after this programme.
The Company
The insight was well structured during the two days. However, the powerpoint slides that we were given had a different order which was a bit confusing to follow through.
Generally everyone was willing to answer any questions we had and give further insight to the firm. Atmosphere during the more informal dinner was also good.
There was personal training on EQ as well as commercial awareness. However, this was an area where I feel the firm could have provided more extensive training.
It was great to hear the first hand experiences of new graduates to senior employees both in a formal and more relaxed setting. Employees were willing to share all aspects of their time at Deloitte.
Since we were confined to one room, we did not get to experience what a day in the office would be like for employees. More work shadowing and employee interface will be appreciated.
Being exposed to the different service lines helped to distinguish between two service lines which I was equally interested in. I now have a clearer view of what to expect at an internship.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed adequately for travel. However, since the insight started at 9am, coming from London, I had to arrange accommodation on my own for the night before!!
There were many opportunities to meet employees but mainly at a superficial level. The only networking opportunity was the dinner.
The dinner was alright, however, I only got to interact with two people because the seating arrangements only had two rotations.
I only found out a bit about this during the dinner.
It's a good way of finding out more about the service lines and Deloitte as a company in general.
