The Role
I'm enjoying the wide range of work to do however it could do with a little more focus on the electronic side for me as that's what I've been studying.
My colleagues do a good job in providing me with work to do and respecting my opinion and listening to me
If I need support and guidance I can get it easily, although I will have to ask rather than have it already there for me (not a bad thing!)
Some days I have lots of projects on the go and am very busy and other days not so much. It depends what projects are being worked on, but if I feel that I don't have much work on I can easily ask someone for some more.
I was given command of a few projects although towards the later stages these projects would be handed over to someone more experienced. However I am getting more responsibility the longer I am here so it's just something that will come with time.
I imagine the work ethic here at Nestle will carry on over to my studies when I go back to university to make me work hard. Furthermore I have learnt a lot about working in teams, communicating with a wide variety of people and working in projects, essential transferable skills for a career.
The Company
Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, people would help me if I needed it but also very professional.
Could do with a little more organisation, mostly up to myself to get onto projects which does teach me valuable skills and is fine now I'm settled in but at the same time when I was new I would have liked a bit more organisation.
Only done the standard Nestle employee training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Quite appealing, the company clearly takes care of its employees and is a good place to work with a high work standard and a good atmosphere.
The Culture
I am the only Engineering placement student but there are a few graduates and we socialise together. I also see some colleagues outside of work when we play football.
My placement is in the same town as my university so I have a good social life from that. Cost of living is quite low as well.
Only 4 main clubs so not great for that but student nights out are good fun and there are a lot of pubs around.
Not many, the only activity I do outside of work is playing football with colleagues.
