About You
I enjoyed the spring week as it have me a deeper insight into the different business areas and also allowed me to network with employees from different areas to see what they did on a day to day basis and how they felt about their jobs. Also loved meeting new students and working with them to complete some group work.
The people at Citi were very friendly and welcoming and they also treated you with respect.
I was given guidance and support in the sense that I was given advice by the analysts on deciding which area to choose and how to go about choosing the right area as well. They also provided me with tips on how to excel and what to do to make sure you secure an internship which I found very useful.
The presentation enhanced my speaking skills and made me more confident to speak in front of large groups of people. It also allowed me to work within teams under pressure as we had limited time to complete our presentations. Lastly the networking skills I developed will definitely be useful in the future as I may meet people I have already met and also I have become more comfortable going up to individuals and speaking to them.
The Company
It was structured well as there were opportunities to network within our breaks and after the talks we had. The amount of breaks were sufficient as well as the amount of talks we had given by various speakers.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere as the people I met played a huge role. They were all friendly and I seemed to get on very well with them. Also what I liked about the atmosphere was that it didn't seem as if I was competing amongst the other students, everyone was very genuine and supportive.
During the work shadowing, the analyst told me what he actually does on a day to day basis and what time he comes into the office which gave me a realistic view of what working for the firm would be like. Other analysts also told me the same thing and also why they liked working for the firm as well.
During the talks we were given, the speakers would briefly touch upon the cultures of the company which gave me a insight into understanding them. However, I would have like to have seen a bit more about the culture of Citi.
It was good in the sense that as we had talks from each business area, we had a slight idea of what they were all like. However, I think to really decide which career path you would want to go into, we could have done more work shadowing as opposed to just one.
Everything Else
Yes, we always had a chance to meet and network with employees every day and also got to network with them informally during the evening.
They were good as I felt comfortable and also some of the events were informal so I could be myself and talk to the employees on a personal level as well as a work level.
Not much but some analysts did say a couple of things that they do/have done.
Yes, it definitely gives you a broad overview of what Citi does and how they work. Also allows you to meet people and get an idea of what working at Citi would be like. Is also useful if you are unsure of what area you would like to specialise in.
