The Role
I had an overall very positive experience with Cummins. It has undoubtedly been a great opportunity to develop both personally and professionally.
Extremely valued. Cummins highlights the importance of integration and working in a diverse environment. Colleagues both within and outside my department always made me feel welcome and valued, appreciating my input and ideas.
I was always given sufficient support and guidance. My manager and I had weekly 1-2-1 meetings which were focused on my work and personal development.
Fairly busy. I always had to manage more than one project at a time, with different people and focused on different aspects of the business.
I was given several projects which impacted the business as a whole. Cummins gives placements a lot of responsibility as well as guidance, if needed, on how to deliver the best possible result.
Cummins sponsored several personal development training courses for placements which will be used at university as well as in my future career. Some of the trainings were on communication, customer service, teamwork and so on.
The Company
Very friendly with its open plan office which also has coffee break areas and sofas, which were ideal to have an informal chat.
Very professional and high standard, from the trainings we received to the overall support we had throughout the placement.
The company invested a lot of money on training and personal development. As previously mentioned, all placements had to attend a series of compulsory trainings delivered by a very qualified external trainer. In addition to those personal development trainings, we had Health and Safety trainings off site.

Cummins is a global organisation which, as previously stated, is investing a lot in young people. I will definitely consider returning on a graduate role.
The Culture
Social events ran quite frequently, organised by placements and graduates outside work. At work we also had a social committee as well as other affinity groups which organised pub quizzes, speed networking and so on.
Being not far from London and Cambridge, Peterborough is cheaper than the South East but more expensive than the rest of the Midlands.
Local pubs and bars were very nice, with good prices and a good atmosphere. The same cannot be said of clubs.
Although shops closed very early during winter, Peterborough offered a fair range of social and sports activities. I joined a local rugby team and a gym.
