About You
The insight was a great chance to better understand how the business works and meet employees from all divisions. I had the chance to talk to graduates and ask questions about career opportunities as well as their career paths. I enjoyed the workshops and, in particular, the interactive sessions. The trading game was amazing and very realistic, showing what a job in trading means. I also enjoyed the work shadowing day because I could see what responsibilities and challenges may arise while working. The HR workshop allowed me to prepare for the assessment centre and made me realise how important it is to know your strengths and have a personal brand.
I felt valued especially when I had the chance to ask questions an the speaker appeared happy to provide an answer and help you understand. Their willingness to give advice and explanations showed their interest and made me feel valued. The group exercises/games were a good way to express your opinion within a group and made me feel like my views and ideas matter.
I believe the most useful piece of advice was on assessment centres and how to succeed at them because the assessment centre are the last step towards a job and receiving guidance from HR and campus recruitment team. During the interactive parts of workshop, it was great to have the opportunity to ask graduates for advice on how to complete the task and even though we did not get the complete answer, I believe that the information received was enough to give you a tip and let you think and analyse for yourself.
I improved my communication skills by engaging in the networking events an group exercises. I also developed my teamwork abilities and learnt the importance of listening to others. I shaped my commercial awareness and technical skills by getting an insight into the industry and understanding how divisions interact with each other. More important than my degree studies is my experience and I believe that knowing the industry will make it easier for me to choose a career path.
The Company
The structure was great. The workshops covered all the divisions across the bank and included a presentation and interactive part which was a chance to apply what you have learned during the presentation. Having the work shadow after the workshops allowed me to understand what I want to know and what I want to ask the graduate.
The atmosphere was pleasant thanks to the students who took part, the HR and campus recruitment team that was very supportive and friendly and the speakers to were more than willing to answer my questions.
The firm want dot make sure that after the insight week, I would get valuable experience in terms of industry knowledge and future career choices.
I am now sure that working for UBS would suit me and I believe that this is the most important thing because wherever I work, I need to fit in and have the same values as the company. Thanks to workshops and company presentation, I understand better what it is like to have a role at UBS and what is UBS expecting from employees.
The insight was very useful in understanding the company culture. From its values to the non-work related event, these all are amazing opportunities for employees and they were all presented in a workshop.
I know what division I want to work in. And I also have a second choice which was not the case before the insight.
