About You
I have greatly enjoyed the insight as the Winning Women week as it gave us a cross-divisional glimpse of the industry which was unique to the J.P. Morgan programme. It was great to be able to see each of the different areas of the bank in more detail as it really helped me to make my decision as to which division to choose.
I felt valued at every stage because the organisers, the speakers and the 'networkers' were always willing to answer questions and were very approachable.
Our group mentors helped provide more personal feedback. Although I feel the feedback was not equally shared across the subgroups within our mentor group. Also the speed networking sessions enabled us to ask questions about how to negotiate the internship process which will provide future guidance.
I think the networking skills developed will definitely help me in my future career as it is a skill which definitely gets better with practise and JP Morgan provided many opportunities for development. I think the information won't necessarily help with my degree as a mathematician but I think that beyond university it will help greatly as it has increased my understanding both of investment banking and generally of the financial industry.
The Company
I think the insight was very well structured. We had a detailed timetable for each day and regularly scheduled-in breaks. There was no point where I did not know what was happening next.
The general atmosphere was very positive and encouraging. All of the speakers were exceptional and managed to motivate the audience to want to work hard and succeed in the industry. Additionally graduate recruitment were very supportive and willing to answer any questions. In particular Jessica, Sian and Hannah really wanted to see us all succeed.
I think the firm has significantly invested in me as they have been in constant contact since the JP Morgan A Level insight. Also, they have invested time into my development through the provision of an excellent spring insight.
It really helped to show what it was like to work in each of the divisions in the business therefore I think I now understand the basics of what it would be like to have a full time job there. They managed very effectively to show off their friendly company culture.
Through meeting so many people who are employed by JP Morgan it enabled me to get a great insight into the friendly company culture. Also they demonstrated the fact that integrity is an essential part of their culture.
I think it was very useful in helping to decide whether investment banking was for me. The talks on the different business areas helped us to see which areas better suited our skill sets.
Everything Else
I was not paid or reimbursed. However I think I will be reimbursed for travel in due course.
There were many opportunities for networking with other employees of the firm. We had both speed networking and networking with networks! I think that the Business Groups event was more useful as in speed networking we did not have enough time to talk to everyone properly
The networking opportunities were very useful. We had many opportunities to talk to other members of the firm. I also enjoyed the social quiz on the first night but believed that 8pm was too late to finish considering project work still needed to be completed.
We found out about Business Groups and some opportunities such as the JP Morgan run and sailing opportunities but they were not all outlined to us.
Yes I would recommend it as it had greatly increased my knowledge of the industry.
