    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was the ideal mix of applying knowledge learnt from academic work and taking new and exciting perspectives to business

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on very well with my team, primarily as I was in one of the smaller departments and therefore felt far more valued. Even after I have left I have kept in contact with a lot of my colleagues during my placement

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Anything I was unsure of there is always someone in the whole of 3M who would be able to help you - definitely the benefit of working for a large corporate with many sub business - lots of experience and a variety of knowledge.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied ... during busy quarters I sometimes wouldn't stop even for a brew ... but it balanced as sometimes the day would drag and I would be counting down the hours ... very common in a lot of jobs

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think I was able to prove to my manager during my placement that I was capable of more responsibility and therefore took on more work ... all placement students are given this opportunity.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The majority of my business accumen comes from my year at 3M - and I now refer nearly everything I do at uni, including my degree, to 3M case studies. 3M are also particularly helpful with providing information and help for dissertation studies.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a really good balance amongst my team of friendly office banter and moments when you could tell everyone was really snowed under and had to be quiet and work. Because of the inter department sport games it gave you chance to build up relations with people in other departments

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • You can tell this scheme has been running for many years and they know exactly what they are doing - however they are always eager to welcome helpful criticism so they can improve year on year ...
