The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship, my assignments and the people I met.
I was given meaningful work to do, which actually contributed to the goals of the team. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful, I really felt valued.
Feedback was always very helpful and constructive- and managers were very patient in guiding me through individual tasks and in answering my questions about the company as a whole. I was always encouraged to ask questions and get involved.
There was a very good balance and my time was timetabled well- I was moved to different jobs where my abilities would best be utilised and where I could more easily learn from other team members. Volume of work did fluctuate from day to day; but I gained valuable skills of time management when I was busy, and I was able to do some online training to better my skills, or shadow someone else, when I was not as busy.
I was given individual sections of the work to be completed assigned to myself alone, but was also always supported when I needed help with it. I was trusted to liaise with clients, and gather information. I felt very much like the work I was doing was useful and helpful to the person who had assigned me it, which was extremely rewarding.
I gained a basic foiundation of accounting knowledge, having started the internship with near zero knowledge of accounts. I feel very lucky to have gained this insight, which will give me an advantage in studying for the ACA, and also in understanding business as a whole, as I got to see the operations of many different industries. In terms of helping my degree, the internship has helped me to become more IT proficient, as well as aiding me to manage my time well and check work thoroughly. I am more confident in team/group situations as well as in a "presentation" capacity.
The Company
The reason I have not chosen 10 stars for this is because despite being a cheerful and comfortable environment to work in, it was of course a professional working area where alot of hard work was done. The office was very easy to work in as it was spacious, airy and quiet. However, everyone was very friendly and kind.
It was well organised with opportunities to go and get experience of other service lines and offices.
I was given access to the online traning platform, and was given 2 days of training at the beginning of the placement.

I have a job with them and am very excited to rejoin them after I finish my degree.
The Culture
The other interns were so supportive and nice! I have made lasting friendships with several, and am still in contact with them. There was a great social scene between other colleagues who regularly met up in their free time.
Cambridge is relatively expensive- but it is my hometown so that wasn't a shock
