The Role
I enjoyed the majority of my placement, although there were times where it was boring. I was surrounded by friendly people who were always willing to help when I struggled and wanted to make sure I got the most out of my year's experience.
In comparison to other interns I was not as relied upon by my team. However they always appreciated when I helped with tasks and was able to reduce their workload.
I had regular meetings with my managers and occasionally with my director to review my workload and discuss how to develop.
Finance is a very varied role, during busy periods I was busy each day. However during certain weeks of the quarter I had very little to do unless I had a specific project to complete.
I was responsible for most trackers within my team and the amount of tasks I was solely responsible for developed over the year.
The general office environment experience will definitely help when I start full time work after university.
The Company
Friendly, although people work hard, during appropriate times people are social.
There are many interns at Disney so they understand mainly what they are capable of. However there doesn't seem to be consistency in roles, some interns are busy all the time and others have nothing to do.
There are Disney University course that you can choose but there is nothing specifically for interns like at other companies.
As a graduate there doesn't seem to be many opportunities but in terms of long term career many interns seem to return once they have qualified.
The Culture
There are over 200 interns so the social side is great! During summer hours teams often going for drinks after work too.
It's London so very expensive
There's lots of bars and pubs but not many clubs, it's only 15 minutes to central London though.
There is a very good volunteering scheme that I got involved in, as well as activities such as Disney choir.
