About You
I did not know that the extent to which the EY leadership academy would be based on your personal development. It really was so informative - I learnt a great deal about myself and I was also able to put this into practice in an environment which I felt 100% comfortable in. So yes, I really enjoyed it and it is totally worth it. If this is as far as I ever get in EY it will be far enough because of how much I have learnt in this time.
The beauty of the leadership academy is it is tailored to each individual and by respecting that everyone is different, it gives you the space to flourish. The time they have invested in me is incredible with no push toward EY, but as you may learn - the technique of pulling is far stronger!
It is not necessarily guidance in the traditional sense. It isn't someone leading you though your development, its someone asking those probing questions which make you question it yourself. And this is exactly what you need as everyone's 'vision' is different so you need to forge your own path.
I learnt more about my skills in these four days than I have for a good deal of my life. Because these are my natural strengths then they will obviously help with my studies and definitely beyond. I may not have gained commercial awareness but that can be taught.
The Company
Very well structured. A clear plan, well delivered.
This is the amazing thing. The people they have chosen are just really decent people all with different strengths. Everyone is so open to feedback and are really here to learn. Also, because of the length of time, I really got to know all the people and felt comfortable and rather fond of them
100%. Definitely. That was the single and most important aim of this course. It is about you and EY is a far second to that
This is perhaps where the Academy does not deliver. But nor do they claim to deliver in this area. What I will say is that we had a partner dinner and because everyone was so relaxed, I learnt so much more in those 2 hours than 3 days of presentations would have given me
I mean the idea of them investing so much in their people is surely a reassuring sign. If this is reflective of their development of their employees that is surely a great reflection on company culture. Maybe I could have learnt a bit more about day to day work but the due to the realtionship I have built with the EY employees this would be easy
I know the direction of my career path, I just may not be sure where exactly to find it yet
Everything Else
I was reimbursed expenses
Yes at the partner dinner but also with the 'facillitators' acting as mentors who were just the kindest, most fun and genuine people
If you really go for it there are plenty of opportunities to learn more. If you don't seek it then maybe you won't get the same level of benefit from it
Yes. Just by speaking to the facilitators, I was able to find out about all areas of EY and actually receive an honest response
Without hesitation. Whichever path you want to take - you will learn something invaluable about yourself here.
