About You
The programme has been a great opportunity to meet and take a look at the work of the people that are in the industry I could see myself in in the future. It's been invaluable to have so many one on one chats with people from the different desks in my division and I've definitely learned a lot and am now in a better position to make decisions about my career in the future.
Every Citi employee I dealt with treated me extremely well and always took their time to answer any questions I had. The work I was given seemed to be of lower significance, understandable in such a small amount of time, but I did apprectiate that analysts invited me to look over their work even if it was a little too complex for me to understand.
I always felt like I could go up to any member of my team and ask them any question I had.
I will be doing a course in accounting and finance next year and anticipate many of the terms I've seen over the past days to show up during that time. Hopefully this will make the course more tangible.
The Company
I realize that this programme was very much meant for work experience, and it was great for that, however because the actual work I could do within my division was limited it would have been great to have a structured opportunity to see more different divisions and maybe have a few more presentations by senior employess like on the first day.
Very positive. Everybody, both employees and students, were very energetic about their jobs/opportunities and definitely made the week enjoyable.
I appreciated the time employees spent with me although they were busy with their own work. Lot so materials (notebooks, information sheets, stationary required for the job) were also provided.
Talking to people from different desks at different levels helped with this. Seeing analysts during their everyday work wa also very beneficial, although I am not entirely sure these 4 days are very representative of a 10 week internship or an analyst position.
Sitting at a desk for almost the entire time definitely gave a very good picture of the company culture. Just walking aroud the building and being in the working environment all week was also great.
It was definitely helpful. It was a lot of information to take in causing me to feel almost a little more lost than before now, but hopefully over the next weeks all the information gathered will become a little clearer and cause me to make a more education career choice.
Everything Else
Travel expenses were reimbursed and a food budget was provided. Many employees also invited us out for lunch or coffee, so no expenses that were't reimbursed arose.
While there was only one formal networking event (with not too many employees present) there were opportunities throughout the week to arrange these myself.
There was one social event (a bowling/networking event) hosted which was a lot of fun and also provided some opportunity to network in a more casual setting.
I heard a little bit about their outside of work life during lunch breaks.
Yes, although many the Citi Scope Programme would be a better one for most first year sutdents.
