About You
Very informative week, learned much more than I thought I was going to and also much more fun than I was expecting!
Was just expecting to be treated as a spring intern, but everyone in the company seemed to value our being there and made us feel important as new blood to the company.
I never felt confused or lost at any point in the insight, everyone was friendly and open to questions if I was confused about any topic.
The skills I learned the past few days will definitely help me in both my studies and hopefully in my applications for my future career
The Company
The insight was well structured, however some of the demonstrations didn't go to plan and there was a few improvements that could have been made to the program which were brought up in the review process. Such as more work shadowing, possibly pairing together 2 different members of staff or shadowing more than one person.
Everyone was enthusiastic and helpful, all the other students selected for the insight were keen as well. Almost no complaints about my experience.
The 4 days were filled from start to finish with the firm reinforcing how important we are to the future of the firm, during the 4 days we had senior members of staff come to us to speak and answer any questions we had. An experience which most companies would not provide.
The insight was very helpful in helping us understand what a full time role in the firm would be like, however it would be more beneficial to spend more time with employees work shadowing than the 2 hours provided in the week.
All the various Q&A sessions helped provide a good understanding as to what the glasgow office culture was like, much more casual than I originally anticipated (in a good way)
I'm still undecided as to my career path, however it's clear that the firm could help me in this aspect due to the sheer size of the company, if I'm unhappy with my current position it's likely that an internal move to another team would be quite possible to improve my situation.
Everything Else
I lived locally so needed no expenses.
Yes, ample opportunity to meet staff in various positions within the company.
There wasn't a huge about of 1 on 1 time, but any queries we had for senior members of staff we had the opportunity to ask.
The firm supports many groups within it's staff for people of varying interests to get together.
Definitely, apart from a few niggles mentioned already the week was brilliant and I can't recommend it enough.
